Lee Jung-hoo (26, San Francisco Giants), a "grandchild of the wind" who plays in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB), said his goal this year is to completely play a season without injury.메이저사이트
When asked about his personal goals in an interview with Korean reporters ahead of the away game against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. on the 23rd (local time), Lee Jung-hoo said, "I haven't played a full (full) season in two years, both last year and the year before last."
"I have to run first to know how good my performance will be, and if I'm a baseball player, I'm happy and dream to keep playing in the field," he said. "And then my performance will be my performance, and I have to continue to supplement and grow after that. I hope I can play well for the whole season."
Lee Jung-hoo, who first stepped into the Major League last year, finished the season early with a shoulder injury, but has continued to perform well this year.
"At this time last year, I was waiting for surgery, but now the team is doing well and I'm so grateful and happy to continue playing in the game," he said.
Lee Jung-hoo, who emerged as the Giants' leading hitter by swinging hard hits every day at the beginning of the season, has slowed down a little in May.
In response, Lee Jung-hoo said, "I'm not a player like Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) or Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Dodgers), so I can't do well all year round," adding, "I think this situation is better because players get attention when they do well and quietly do their job when they can't."
He also added, "I don't like to get attention because of my personality, and I like it when the team wins at the end and gets the spotlight."
When asked what kind of advice he receives from his father, coach Lee Jong-beom of the KT Wiz in the Korean professional baseball league, Lee Jung-hoo said, "It's not related to baseball, but he gives me mental advice," and added, "He's comfortably saying a word or two, 'Isn't it a major league (not Korea)."
"I haven't seen the article yet," he said when asked about the recent U.S. media's analysis of his unique "upper swing," but added, "It's not a swing I'm conscious of, but I've been doing that since I was young, so I think that swing is complete."
Lee Jung-hoo, a second-year major leaguer, cited jet lag and consecutive games when asked what was different from his time in the Korean professional baseball league.
"I came to the East (from the West) and it got faster by three hours. And we always played six consecutive games in Korea, but I think it's different here because we have nine, 10 and as many as 17 consecutive games," he said.
"I try to sleep a lot and eat a lot of delicious things," Lee said. "I try to stay away from baseball as much as possible. I watch dramas, movies, and YouTube. I try to change the subject with something outside of baseball."
When asked if he plays any other sports other than baseball, he answered, "I had fun playing golf with the players on my day off last time."
Lee Jung-hoo has a local fan club called HOLEE GANS. When asked how he felt about this, he said, "It's amazing. Thank you so much. I'm not communicating with you directly, but I think cheering gives me a lot of strength and motivation to do better."
Lee Jung-hoo also said to Korean fans cheering in the U.S., "It's true that it's very nice to see a lot of Korean fans wherever they go, and I can hear their voices better," adding, "I'm always grateful and I'll always do my best to give you a little happiness in the stadium."
